Rava/Semolina Handvo-Savory Cake

Handvo is a gujrati dish prepared using rice flour and mixed lentils. This recipe is made from rava and can be prepared instantly and also very tasty.

Try this delicious Rava Handvo- Savory Cake recipe at your home and surprise your family and friends.

Ingredients;

Rava – 200 gms

Grated Lauki/ Dudhi – 1/2 cup

French Beans (finely chopped) – 1/4 cup

Boiled Corn Kernels – 1/4 cup

Grated Carrot – 1/4 cup

Onion (finely chopped) – 1 large

Oats powder – 1/4 cup

Grated Potato- 1/2 cup

Curd -1/2 cup

Peanuts -2 tbsp

Haldi/Turmeric -1/2 tsp

Sugar- 1/2 tsp

Kashmiri lal mirch- 1 piece

Sesame Seeds -1 tbsp

Green Chillies finely chopped- 2 pieces

Ginger paste- 1 tsp

Coriander Leaves chopped – 1/4 cup

Lemon juice-1 tsp

Eno/Fruit Salt -1 tbsp

Oil for tempering – 2 tbsp

Cumin seeds – 1 tsp

Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp

Curry Leaves

Salt as required

How to make Rava Handvo- Savory Cake

  1. Soak rava in curd for half an hour. After half an hour add green chilli, ginger paste, salt, grated lauki/dudhi, grated potato, grated carrot, onion, capsicum, french beans, boiled corn kernels, peanuts, chopped cilantro, haldi/turmeric, sugar, lemon juice and mix well and leave for 15 mins.
  2. For tempering switch on gas and in a tempering vessel add oil, sesame seeds, kashmiri lal mirch, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and curry leaves and once the seeds splutter switch off the gas and add this tempering to the above prepared rava mixture.
  3. Taste the mixture and add salt if required. Now add eno and mix.
  4. In a non stick wok switch on gas and add 1 tbsp oil and let it became warm. Once warm add the rava mixture as prepared above and cover the wok.
  5. Let it cook for 15 minutes and then check. The base of the mixture will have formed a crust turn it over and let the upper side cook for 5 mins.
  6. Both the sides will be cooked having a crispy crust while the inside will be soft.
  7. Serve hot with green chutney and sauce.

My Tip:

If u want to avoid eno you can add soda bi carb 1 tsp to the mixture. You can use traditional handvo vessel if you have one
