Dragon Fruit Sorbet

Hey guys! I recently took a small vacation to my native place Kutch, Gujrat and it was the season of Dragon fruit there. Here in Mumbai we get the white pulp dragon fruit and there we get red pulp in the fruit and tastes sweeter than the white pulp. So I decided to bring a few back with me and I made a sorbet out of the fruit and it was so very delicious. You can make this sorbet with white pulp also but if you can get your hand on the red pulp dragon fruit do try it out. Sorbet is dessert which is made by using frozen fruits and served chilled. It is icy and slushy in nature and the best dessert for summers. So lets get cooking..

Dragon fruit – 4

Lemon Juice – 1 tbsp

Sugar – 3/4 cup

Salt a pinch

1) Remove the pulp from the dragon fruit and chop and freeze it for 2 hours.

2) Now in a grinder take the frozen dragon fruit, sugar, lemon juice and churn it till it is slushy.

3) Now take this out in a container and freeze it for 6-7 hours. Scoop and serve chilled.

    • Thanks a lot! Red pulp dragon fruit is not available here also in Mumbai. I got it from Kutch. There red pulp is easily available and these ones are harvested right from the farm.

    • Red pulp is not easily available. I myself got it from Kutch, Gujrat. You can try out this recipe with white pulp also but it is much sweeter with the red pulp.

  1. The color looks so vibrant. I have rarely seen red pulp dragon fruit here too. We generally make smoothie bowls. I will surely make a sorbet next time.

  2. Loved the color, Shail. I am going to try and find the red dragon fruit here. Would love to try out this sorbet. I am sure it tastes as delicious as it looks.

  3. Yummy and so easily prepared! We dont get Dragonfruit here very easily….only a few shops have it. Will look for the red variety on my next trip to any of the gourmet stores.

    • Hi..thanks a lot…if you do not get the red one you can try it out with the white one also but if using white variety you can club it with Apple or banana also. Tastes great!

  5. This looks stunning. I love dragon fruit anyway and yes, when I was in Kutch I tried dragon fruit and kiwi juice. I was so fascinated that I brought one bottle back home. It was a stall that was based on the highway from kutch to ahmedabad.

  6. Your post has come at a good time – my son has discovered the red pulp dragonfruit at a local farmer’s market we visit every Sunday, and he simply loves it! I’m sure he’ll love the sorbet too!
